Is the Website Up

Terms and conditions

Last updated 8 October 2026.

These terms apply to Is the Website Up at isthewebsiteup.com. Using the site means you accept them.

What a check means

A result describes one DNS lookup and one browser request at the moment you pressed Check. It is not a guarantee that a website is up worldwide, that it will stay up, or that its pages are correct. It does not show HTTP status codes. Do not use it as the only basis for telling customers their service is restored, or for an incident report that needs timestamps from several locations.

Your use

You may check addresses you are allowed to contact. You may not use the page to hammer a third-party site, to probe networks you do not administer, or to present a result as our certification of someone else's uptime. You are responsible for the addresses you submit. Do not submit URLs that include passwords, session tokens, or other secrets. Those strings would be sent to the destination by your browser.

No monitoring contract

The site does not offer a service-level agreement, an on-call response, or a promise to notice outages. It is a manual tool.

Intellectual property

The wording and design of this site belong to the operator. Short quotations with a link are fine. Re-hosting the tool as your own product is not.

Advertising

Third-party ads, including Google AdSense, may be added later. An ad is not a statement about the status of the advertiser's website. Advertising cookies are covered in the privacy notice.

Disclaimer and liability

The site is provided as available. DNS providers, the destination website, and your network can all change a result. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses that follow a check, including a wrong call that a site was up or down. Nothing here excludes liability that the law does not allow to be excluded.

Changes and law

We may change the tool or these terms. The date on this page will move when the terms change. These terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom. Courts in the United Kingdom have jurisdiction, except where a law gives you a different forum.
